PATNA, Nov 14: The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has taken a significant lead in the early counting of the Bihar Assembly elections, reported to be ahead in 166 out of 243 seats. These results come from the Election Commission, which indicates that the NDA has comfortably crossed the majority mark of 122 seats.
The opposition INDIA bloc significantly trails behind, showing leads in only 59 seats. Officials caution that these figures may change as further rounds of counting progress.
Within the NDA, the BJP leads in 72 seats, followed closely by its allies: Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)) in 71 seats, LJP (RV) in 18, HAM(S) in four, and RLM managing to lead in one seat.
Conversely, the INDIA bloc’s performance includes the RJD leading in 43 seats, with the Congress in eight, CPI(ML)-Liberation in six, and both CPI and CPI(M) each securing one seat.
The Jan Suraaj Party, under the leadership of Prashant Kishor, alongside Mukesh Sahani’s VIP, currently trails in all constituencies they contested.
Among key candidates, RJD’s Khesari Lal Yadav trails in Chhapra, while BJP’s Maithili Thakur maintains a lead in Alinagar. RJD’s Osama Shahab leads in Ragunathpur, and JD(U) minister Leshi Singh shows an advantage in Dhamdaha.
Notably, the INDIA bloc’s Chief Ministerial candidate, Tejashwi Yadav, holds a lead in Raghopur. Furthermore, Deputy CMs Samrat Choudhary from Tarapur and Vijay Kumar Sinha from Lakhisarai are also in leading positions.
Interestingly, in Mahua, Tej Pratap Yadav sits in fourth position, with LJP(RV)’s Sanjay Kumar Singh leading the constituency.
