Sethi, who served in the Sub-Committee since 2021, informed Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Mithun Manhas about his decision.
This resignation aligns with the Supreme Court’s directive on 27 October for JKCA elections to be held within 12 weeks, overseen by former Chief Election Commissioner Achal Kumar Joti.
In his resignation letter, Sethi detailed the troubling circumstances that led to his decision. He stated, “As the Supreme Court has directed holding of elections of JKCA, the process to appoint a new Ombudsman has not been approved by the Election Officer until the General Body is formed. Unfortunately, back-dated orders are being issued by the former Ombudsman, dating them back to March 2025, when no such orders were previously passed or reported to me.”
Sethi’s concerns center on the potential implications of these orders on JKCA’s governance. He elaborated, “These orders alter club management and voting rights. This is an attempt to modify the voting nomenclature, which I refuse to endorse.”

He concluded his letter with a note of gratitude, stating, “I tender my resignation from the Member Sub-Committee. Please accept and relieve me.
