RAMBAN, JULY 08: Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Gool, Imtiaz, chaired a Sub-Division Level Disaster Management and Coordination Meeting to review disaster preparedness. The meeting took place today to enhance inter-departmental coordination for effective relief measures against natural hazards like floods, landslides, and cloudbursts in the region.
The meeting welcomed an array of officials including Tehsildar Harjeet Singh, SDPO Kuldeep Raj, Naib Tehsildar Inktikhab Ahmed, and the Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO), along with representatives from 23 RR Gool, Beacon Mahore, and Batote. Key personnel from Health, PDD, FCS&CA, SDRF, Police, and other line departments also joined the discussions.
Participants conducted a thorough review of the current disaster management plan, assessing the availability of personnel and machinery, essential commodities, functioning control rooms, and communication systems within the sub-division. Considering the onset of the monsoon season, the SDM directed all departments to remain on high alert. He insisted on around-the-clock monitoring of areas vulnerable to landslides and flash floods.
Imtiaz emphasized proactive measures and cohesive coordination among all departments to effectively respond to any emergency. He instructed the Jal Shakti, PWD, and PMGSY departments to pinpoint vulnerable locations and keep restoration teams and machinery ready for immediate action.
The Health department received directives to guarantee the availability of medicines, ambulances, and medical staff at CHC Gool and nearby PHCs. Simultaneously, the FCS&CA was directed to maintain a buffer stock of essential rations, while the PDD was tasked with ensuring backup power supply arrangements.
The SDM also urged Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars to carry out regular inspections of vulnerable areas. They are to maintain updated listings of disaster-prone pockets and engage the public with safety information on dos and don’ts during disasters.
The police and 23 RR were asked to support rescue and evacuation initiatives, while representatives from Beacon were directed to facilitate early road restorations in case of blockages.
Imtiaz reiterated that the administration prioritizes the safety of lives and property above all. He asserted that effective coordination, timely responses, and public cooperation significantly reduce the impacts of disasters. He assured attendees that the administration stands prepared to tackle any repercussions from natural calamities.
