Displaying exceptional skill and determination, Shivansh Rajput from Jammu and Kashmir stormed into the finals of the 45 kg category at the 69th National School Games 2025 (Under-19 Boys Taekwondo Championship).
The prestigious tournament is being organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) under the aegis of the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) at the Indoor Sports Complex, Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu.
Shivansh showcased outstanding form throughout the competition, defeating his Tamil Nadu counterpart in the quarterfinals and later overcoming Soham Joe of Goa in a thrilling semi-final encounter to seal his berth in the finals.
In the -59 kg category, J&K’s Nasir ul Islam added to the state’s medal tally by winning a Bronze medal, sharing the podium with a competitor from Gujarat, while Gold and Silver were claimed by players from Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Assam, respectively.
Earlier, in the -45 kg category, Assam defeated CBSE, Madhya Pradesh overcame Gujarat, KVS triumphed over Arunachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand prevailed against Karnataka. Other first-round winners included Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, CISE, and Goa.
In the second round, Assam outclassed Delhi, Kerala edged past Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand beat KVS, and Bihar defeated Jharkhand to move forward in the competition.
Meanwhile, in the -75 kg category, J&K dominated Andhra Pradesh, while West Bengal, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, and Gujarat also registered convincing wins in their respective matches, with contests continuing amid spirited competition and sportsmanship.
