Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday arrested an alleged criminal in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district and recovered an illegal revolver from his possession. The police acted promptly after observing suspicious behavior, leading to the apprehension of 28-year-old Munna Singh.
Singh, a resident of Sohal village in Akhnoor, had been living in Samba. He headed towards Kikri Morh from Data Talab when a police patrol spotted him near JDA Colony in the Bari Brahmana area. The police spokesperson emphasized that Singh’s movements raised suspicions, prompting immediate police action.
Upon noticing the police team, Singh attempted to flee. However, the police chased him down and successfully apprehended him. During a personal search, authorities discovered the unlicensed revolver in his possession. Singh could not provide any valid license or legal clearance for carrying a firearm, raising further concerns about public safety.
The police have registered a case under the relevant provisions of the Arms Act at the Bari Brahmana police station. Local officials continue to investigate the matter thoroughly, examining the sources of the illegal weapon and any possible connections Singh may have.
