Supreme Court Directs Centre on CBI Probe into Jharkhand Exam Irregularities

The Supreme Court on Monday issued notices to the Centre and the Jharkhand state government regarding a plea for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into alleged malpractices during the Jharkhand Combined Civil Services Preliminary Examination.

This significant development occurred when a bench led by Chief Justice Surya Kant, along with Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana, sought responses from the Union of India, the Jharkhand government, and the Jharkhand Public Service Commission.

Senior advocate Manan Kumar Mishra, representing the petitioner, advocated for a thorough CBI inquiry, or alternatively, an investigation conducted by a former judge of the court, to uphold the integrity of the examination process.

The petition originated from activist Harisharan Devgan, who through advocate Satyam Singh Rajput, urged the court to intervene. The petition draws attention to serious concerns regarding the fairness and credibility of the Jharkhand Combined Civil Services Preliminary Competitive Examination 2025.
