Public Participation in PM’s Vadodara Programme Hits New Heights

In a remarkable first-of-its-kind initiative, over 42,000 seats for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s programme in Vadodara filled within one hour of opening free registration via BookMyShow. The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) utilized this digital platform to manage the overwhelming public response, resulting in the closure of registrations shortly after they began.

The enthusiastic turnout reflects a growing engagement from the public for government initiatives. Such enthusiasm mirrors the significant interest in the upcoming programme where PM Modi will inaugurate projects worth over ₹35,000 crore.

The PM’s visit to Vadodara, scheduled for Tuesday, embodies a commitment to advancing infrastructure and enhancing connectivity in Gujarat and Maharashtra. With an emphasis on modern technology, the programme will employ a fully digital entry system, allowing registered participants to access a secure digital M-Ticket on BookMyShow.

Each ticket will include a live QR code for seamless entry verification. This digital approach intends to streamline the entire process of registration, verification, and venue entry, enabling faster access and smoother crowd management.

During this significant visit, PM Modi will dedicate three pivotal sections of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC), covering 326 route kilometres at a cost exceeding ₹20,700 crore. These developments will improve logistics by facilitating faster movement of EXIM cargo and bolstering connectivity between industrial centers and ports, ultimately relieving congestion on Mumbai’s railway network.

Experts believe that the commissioning of the Dedicated Freight Corridor will markedly enhance India’s logistics framework. The investment in dedicated freight infrastructure positions the nation to reduce transit times, improve multimodal connectivity, and facilitate smooth cargo movement across various regions.

The Prime Minister’s address to the nation will coincide with the flagging off of freight train services from New Sanand and New JNPT, creating new links between critical hubs. Furthermore, he will inaugurate a new passenger train service between Tanda Road and Vadodara (Pratapnagar).

Significantly, Modi will also dedicate the Jobat-Tanda Road new rail line, a crucial addition that connects the tribal areas of Alirajpur with the national railway network.

In addition to freight and passenger train services, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for various railway projects spanning 329 kilometers and costing over ₹9,700 crore. These initiatives include the Vadodara-Ratlam third and fourth lines, which aim to enhance both passenger and freight capacity, easing congestion and improving connectivity between Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.

The development of highway projects will also feature prominently in the PM’s agenda, with ₹1,780 crore allocated for improvements. Key projects include the six-laning of the Kamrej-Chalthan section of NH-48 and the construction of major bridges over the Tapi and Narmada rivers.

In Vadodara, major projects worth about ₹2,600 crore will also be inaugurated. Highlights include the Vadodara Urban Development Authority Ring Road Phase II, a 110 MW floating solar project at Kadana Dam, and various housing initiatives under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).

As the Prime Minister addresses the crowd, he will also promote water supply projects aimed at improving access for 11 villages in eastern Vadodara, further showcasing the government’s commitment to rural development and infrastructure enhancement.

Following his visit to Vadodara, Modi will travel to Mumbai for the inauguration of the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2026, a major annual conference that draws international participation, shaping finance’s future at a time when digital inclusion becomes ever more crucial.

The theme of GFF 2026, “Potential to Impact: Agentic AI, Tokenisation, Quantum – Trusted, Connected, Global Systems for Inclusive Finance,” speaks to the growing interconnection of technology and finance. This event underscores India’s position as a leader in digital payments and financial inclusion.
